How to Clean the Solenoid Valve of the Injection Mold Maker

Clean the Solenoid Valve of the Injection Mold Maker (1)

The function of the solenoid valve of the injection mold maker is mainly to control the liquid circuit, so that the crankshaft moves forward and backward, and the mold can be opened and closed in the injection molding machine. There is a closed cavity in the solenoid valve, and through holes are opened at various positions. The through holes are connected to the oil pipes. The valve body is the hole that controls the oil discharge, so that the hydraulic oil enters different oil discharge pipes.

There are as many as 5 or 6 types of solenoid valves on the injection mold maker, all of which are called solenoid valves. Ensuring the cleanliness of the solenoid valve is conducive to the smooth operation of the machine, so the solenoid valve should be cleaned regularly. The following are the steps for cleaning the solenoid valve.

Steps for Cleaning the Solenoid Valve

  1. Disassemble the machine and take out the solenoid valve.
    • Before disassembling, if the surface is dirty, clean the surface with diesel first to prepare for the next cleaning.
  2. Remove the electromagnet and clean the valve body.
    • Use diesel for cleaning and blow it clean with compressed air.
  3. Disassemble the covers at both ends of the valve and take out the valve core.
    • Rinse all the holes with diesel, blow them clean with compressed air, and repeat the cleaning operation at least three times. The strict specified number of cleaning times is 7 times.
  4. Remove dirt or rust carefully.
    • Use metallographic sandpaper to gently wipe off any dirt or rust.
    • Avoid using coarse sandpaper to prevent scratching the valve core and valve stem.
  5. Reinstall the components correctly.
    • Oil the valve core and valve stem before installation.
    • Push them gently to prevent misalignment.
    • Avoid opening the valve hole with brute force.

Precautions During Cleaning

  • A small amount of oil will generally flow out of the injection mold maker during disassembly. Cleaning should be considered beforehand.
  • Avoid allowing a large amount of gas to enter the oil circuit.
  • After installation, the machine should be turned on to exhaust excess gas.

Exhausting Gas from the Hydraulic System

Since air will enter the oil circuit after removing the solenoid valve, it is crucial to discharge the gas after reinstallation. The method is:

  • Allow the valve to move, enabling the hydraulic system to reciprocate throughout the process. This will help in normal gas discharge.
  • If the gas is not discharged normally, open the exhaust hole to remove trapped air, similar to exhausting an ordinary hydraulic system.

Final Considerations

The above are the cleaning steps of the solenoid valve and the important points to be noted during the process. Follow these steps carefully for proper maintenance. However, for individuals without basic knowledge of solenoid valves, it is best to seek professional assistance to avoid damaging the solenoid valve of the injection mold maker.
